Holding space for pregnant people through pregnancy and postpartum

What is Inti-Quilla? Inti in Quechua (Quechua is the native language of indigenous peoples of South America. My family roots are based in South America) means Sun and Quilla (often written as “Killa”) means Moon.

The sun & moon represent the life cycle of the day. The support I offer as a birth keeper is to bear witness to this major life transition for you and to support you through becoming a new parent/a parent to a new little person in the world. As an advocate I teach you and your partner/support how to advocate for yourselves and your baby. Once your baby is earthside, we celebrate you and your family.

Although I work with all people, I like to focus on those pregnant people and new parents who are 35-years-old or older. Doctors immediately place the term “geriatric pregnancy” on these folks, which often makes pregnant people feel uneasy and anxious. I’m here to assure you that you can have the powerful birth you seek, whether you are 19 or 42.

My approach to birth and postpartum is rooted in my own family’s traditions. We create space for parents, honoring them and their bodies, during la cuarentena — a 40-day period postpartum — where community members offer complete support for the new parent. Throughout pregnancy, we create support, we prepare, we celebrate, we laugh, we cry – we embrace everything that comes with this new chapter in your life.
